The Basics Needed For Begining |
To begin skating there are some things you will jsut have to know, For example, Your Stance.... Chances are you know what stance you are.... There is either Normal Or Goofy ... Correct? Correct! The diffrence between the two positions is this ...
Normal: Either Righty or Lefty your left sholder will be facing folwards. The Left foot will be on the front of the board right behind the fin, The right foot, will be used to push off to gain speed, After you have speed and you just want to roll around you palce your right foot on the back of the board right infront of the fin.
Goofy: The right foot will be infront with your right sholder facing folwards. The push off will be with your left foot, and then placed infrotn of the back fin, the same as the "normal" stance only ... the opposite.

Another thing that wouldent hurt to know is the parts of the board....
The Biggest part, the top which you stand on, the "Board" is called the "Deck"
The part right under that that not all skate boards have. Depending on the number of ply you dont need them... Anything with a ply higher than 8 does not need these, They are called Risers, The risers take stress of the deck to prevent it from cracking adn getting the stress marks. The Risers are the little plastic part right under the deck and above the "trucks"
The Trucks. They are the part that the wheels are on its that whole section, Trucks are 2 piece devices. They must be ni two pieces because ... well you need to turn. Then of course there are the wheels, and the bearings inside. THe rubber things inbetween the two sectiosn of the trucks are called Spacers... the spacers are used basically for, making the trucks be able to be tightened or loosened, or so they are not permanintally there, and when they wear away you can just buy new spacers instead of all new trucks.
